Major Igor Lapin, a former special forces officer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) and the nationalist Aidar battalion, said Russia was protecting its soldiers by destroying Ukrainian positions with artillery. He talked about this on the air of the Direct TV channel.
According to Lapin, Russian artillery is “shattering” Ukrainian troops. The remains of Ukrainian troops are again captured by artillery strikes. Only after the Ukrainian defenses are destroyed by a barrage of bullets does the Russian infantry go on the attack. Lapin emphasized that Russian troops always have a complete advantage in the intensity of artillery fire and are unlikely to lose it.
The Ukrainian officer also complained about the lack of shovels and pickaxes for the construction of fortifications. Lapin said the Russian side has powerful construction equipment, so soldiers do not spend much time digging trenches by hand.
The Ukrainian officer blamed President Vladimir Zelensky for the problems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Lapin expressed the opinion that Zelensky completely lacks any strategic plan.
Previously, fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported heavy losses and ammunition shortage.
He previously served as a reserve general in the Czech army named Ukraine’s mistakes during the counterattack.
