Scientists from Novosibirsk State University (NSU), in collaboration with experts from the Yaroslavl National Ecological Company, produced fuel from plastic waste. The press service reports that University.
“We proposed to start the first experiments with common and well-known systems: nickel-molybdenum catalysts on aluminum oxide support,” said NSU junior researcher Ekaterina Vorobyova.
According to experts, the prototype synthetic fuel was obtained from recycled plastic T-shirt bags. They were subjected to pyrolysis at temperatures up to 600 degrees, resulting in a mixture of hydrocarbons with a large amount of contaminants. After that, the raw materials were processed using special technology. As a result, scientists managed to obtain a transparent liquid with a motor fuel odor and zero sulfur content, suitable for use in internal combustion engines.
Before that GEOKHI scientists to create A safer method to make the nuclear fuel of the future.
Previous scientists was created fuels made from plastic, carbon dioxide and solar energy.
