Nearly a third (32%) of Russians named “burnout” as the word of the year for 2023 in the career field. 27% of the participants chose “Success” and 22% chose “success”. This is shown by a study conducted by the Rabota.ru service, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
The top 5 words also involved processing (19%) and learning (18%).
The word of the year was part-time work and promotion for 14 percent of respondents, and remote work for 12 percent. 11% of respondents voted for toxicity, 8% for management, and 7% for fiasco. 5% stated the word competition, 4% indicated relocation and soft skills, and 3% stated hard skills. 8 percent of those surveyed voted for other options.
“Occupational burnout syndrome has been included in the International Classification of Diseases since 2019, which means that it is officially recognized as a factor affecting health status. Therefore, treating him with calls to “pull yourself together” or “take a break” is ineffective. Employees need to pay more attention to work-life balance. Employers can prevent loss of interest in work through various activities. It is also important to ensure that employees understand that they are a valuable link in the company and that the employer is interested in their development. Additionally, a friendly team and potential growth make employees more resilient to burnout,” commented Yulia Sanina, director of HR and organizational development at Rabota.ru.
