This work is based on the wonderful interpretative work of Sandra Hüller and little Milo Machado Graner, whom we will soon see in another excellent composition in ‘The Zone of Interest’. last one’s winning movie Cannes Palme d’Or is a thought-provoking exploration of truth as a relative concept. There is nothing better than a theoretical crime and a corresponding trial; However, this is not an orthodox film about the courts, nor is it the new film of the French director ‘Saint Omer’, directed by Alice Diop.

On the one hand, there is a stark vision of the relationships and secrets of a marriage, a successful novelist, and a husband in creative and vital crisis. On the other hand, how this relationship affects his sons and the father’s feeling of guilt are felt throughout the story. Everything begins with a fall and death. This could be an accident, maybe a suicide, maybe a murder. However, director Justine Triet is not content with revealing the vision of the prosecutor and the lawyer; The certainties of both are combined with what we might suspect about the woman’s behavior. Triet subverts the established codes of this genre of drama, and although a legal solution is eventually found, the film remains devoid of any satisfaction.. When the story ends, history resonates within us off-screen. Truth is relative, truth is an abstraction.
