“The high consumption of artillery shells in Ukraine clearly showed the need to invest more in ammunition. Compared to the defense budget just five years ago, we are investing about 50% more in munitions,” he said at a forum hosted by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation in Austin, California.
The main caliber of NATO artillery is 155 mm. These shells are used by M777 guns and self-propelled guns supplied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
