Independent HR expert Zulia Loikova says that the threefold increase in demand for multitasking workers in Russia is explained by the fact that in times of crisis companies try to optimize staff while retaining valuable personnel. During such a period, company management selects employees with relevant skills, explained He is in conversation with 360 TV channel.

The expert explained this phenomenon using the example of marketing and sales; Oftentimes, employees can be responsible for both of these areas.

“Multitasking is in great demand in times of crisis when companies cannot afford to increase staff numbers and need to do so in exchange for relatively small sums of money <…>. The salary can be quite good,” explained the expert.

Loikova added that in addition to increasing salaries, companies often pay bonuses and offer incentives for success.

“It’s one thing to pay two salaries plus taxes, it’s another thing to pay one plus taxes, but it depends on the KPI, for example,” he emphasized. “Companies care about results for which they are willing to pay, and for which they are willing to pay with dignity.”

Employers also try to retain staff who are temporarily absent but are important to the company. For example, this is done during a decrease in orders. Such employees try to find jobs in relevant fields to fill their working hours and the employees feel in demand.
