A woman with acute pancreatitis was taken to the Reutov hospital, the condition of a 45-year-old resident of the Moscow region was aggravated by diabetes and dehydration. The patient, who was taken to the intensive care unit, was also found to have excessive fluid in his abdomen and lungs. The woman was connected to a ventilator.
“The patient looked like a water balloon. It was decided to perform seven sessions of renal replacement therapy. This allowed the woman’s situation to stabilize. “He began to regain consciousness, he was disconnected from the ventilator,” said Sergei Radaev, head of the treatment department at Reutov Hospital.
Doctors had to pump out 25 liters of excess fluid from the woman’s body, after a while the patient’s condition improved and she was discharged for outpatient treatment.
