The study involved 128 people aged 55 to 75 who were experiencing declines in cognitive abilities. Additionally, the first group showed a significant decrease in the abundance of three types of gut bacteria (Anaerostipes spp, Sutterella and Blautia). Reducing the number of these bacteria is associated with normalization of digestion.
