Two-thirds of Russians living in apartments want to move to their own home. Large space relative to the area of u200bu200bthe apartment, nature and the absence of neighbors nearby are what most attract Russians to private real estate. As the survey results show, two-thirds of respondents live in apartments, while 18% rent or own a private house outside the city or cottage.
Almost two-thirds (64%) of those living in apartments want to move out of town. Reasons for wanting to do so include proximity to nature (45% of respondents cite this), having more space to live (41%) and not having close neighbors (34%).
One in seven respondents (14%) are actually ready to move into a private home next year. In particular, 8 percent plan to rent a house, and 5 percent plan to buy or have a mortgaged house built.
The main obstacles to buying or renting a house were the high cost of houses in the desired location (52%), the high cost of maintaining the house (36%) and traffic congestion towards the city (48%).

It turned out that the average housing size (apartment or house) in which the participants lived was significantly smaller than desired. Only a quarter of the participants’ desires match their abilities. When respondents were asked whether they planned to move to larger homes purchased or rented in the next year, the vast majority (74%) responded negatively.
It turns out that people are generally satisfied with the appearance of their homes. Specifically, 54% of respondents are “generally satisfied” with it, while 22% are “completely satisfied.” At the same time, 17% are “very dissatisfied with it” and 7% are “strongly dissatisfied.”
When respondents were asked why they were unhappy with the interior of their home, almost half (42%) said “boring”, 35% complained about old furniture and wallpaper/old fittings, and 31% complained about living in a family home and their interior. It does not suit your personal preferences.
At the same time, less than half have made repairs this year (31%) or plan to do so next year (13%).
