According to 44% of Russians surveyed, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is shown by a study on the regional food delivery service Kitchen, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
However, half of Russians (49%) think that breakfast is no more important than lunch or dinner. For a minority (6%), morning meal was found to be unimportant.
Participants talked about what they like to do for breakfast. The most popular option was toast or a sandwich, while egg dishes came in second place and porridge came in third place. Russians also noted that they periodically eat yesterday’s dinner for breakfast (13%) and drink sparkling wine in the morning on weekends (2%).
The majority of people living in Russia (95%) prepare their own breakfast. 85% of them have time to eat at home, and 10% take food with them to the office or to study. Only 2% of those surveyed are accustomed to going to a cafe or restaurant for breakfast.
It is interesting that, despite the abundance of trendy recipes on social networks, only 25% of respondents are accustomed to eating such dishes for breakfast. Three-quarters of Russians still prefer traditional simple breakfast options, but between avocado toast with salmon and doctor hot dog, 80% of Russians prefer the former.
All breakfast photos appearing on social networks are the work of only 3% of Russians. The majority of respondents (77%) do not take photos of their plates, but one in ten save the frames in a personal archive or send them to family and friends. 56% of Russians state that food aesthetics plays a big role for them.
69 percent of Russians have breakfast for less than 200 rubles. 27 percent of respondents spend between 200 and 500 rubles on morning meals, and 3 percent spend between 500 and 700 rubles. Only 1% of the country’s residents spend more than 700 rubles on breakfast.
