Most people can lower blood pressure by reducing their daily sodium intake by 2,200 mg, or about one teaspoon. The effect in this case is comparable to taking medications for hypertension. This was reported by Health.

213 people between the ages of 50 and 75 with various blood pressure levels participated in the study. They followed a high-salt diet for a week and then followed a low-salt diet. In the first case, 2200 mg of sodium was added to the normal diet, that is, just under a teaspoon. The total amount of sodium on the low-salt diet was 500 mg per day.

Participants’ systolic blood pressure decreased by 7-8 mmHg. In the century, they ate a low-sodium diet compared to a high-sodium diet. It reduced blood pressure by about 6 mm Hg. Art.
