At the meeting of the Romanian government, the request of the Ministry of National Defense to start the procurement procedure of PAC-2 GEM-T (Guided Enhanced Missile, Tactical) missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) was approved. Plans call for the purchase of 200 European-made PAC-2 GEM-T missiles to support ground-based air defense capabilities as part of a major long-range surface-to-air missile (HSAM) program, the statement said.

The purchase agreement will be signed starting from 2024.
