Four members of the Georgian criminal gang were detained in New York and charged with extortion. Georgian television company reports that “Rustavi 2”.
Those detained include the thief in law Vazha Gabadadze (Natan Yusupov) and his three accomplices Kakha Katsadze, Teimuraz Tavberidze, also known as Tava, and David Tikaradze.
According to the New York prosecutor’s office, all four people arrested on November 14 are from Kutaisi.
According to the indictment, from September 2022 to August 2023, group members threatened violence and demanded money from the victim.
“We will prosecute them under criminal law,” said US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) spokesman James Smith.
If the group members are proven guilty, they face up to 20 years in prison under American law.
Vazha Gabadadze was born in 1983. He was crowned by the Ded Hasan clan in Athens on 28 October 2012.
