The 46-year-old owner of Lada Samara reported the attempt to steal his car to the police. The driver found his vehicle in the parking lot with the driver’s door glass broken and the steering wheel cover torn.
After establishing the suspect’s characteristics and possible course of action, criminal investigators detained a 20-year-old local resident who had previously been convicted of similar crimes. The young man confessed to his crime, saying he “just wanted to go for a ride” and started the engine with wires, but eventually stalled after driving just one metre.
A criminal case was filed against him and he was released on his own recognizance and proper conduct.
Earlier, the Russian locked the thief in his car and handed over to police.
