The women’s unit of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), tasked with monitoring the border with the Gaza Strip, reported suspicious activities of militants of the Palestinian radical group Hamas, but the command ignored them. An Israeli publication writes about this Haaretz Regarding military personnel.
According to the soldiers, it was sexism and ageism that caused intelligence reports to be ignored (ageism – socialbites.ca). We are talking about the work of the “Tatspitaniyot” observer groups.
“This is a unit consisting entirely of young girls and young female commanders. There is no doubt that if men were sitting in front of these screens, things would be different,” one of the soldiers told reporters.
At the same time, intelligence officers reported that Hamas militants have learned to bypass obstacles, actively use various means, and also received equipment to disable video surveillance abroad.
According to military personnel, observers also mentioned that Hamas was conducting daily reconnaissance with drones, attacking the IDF observation post and the Merkava tank, but the command ignored all warnings.
On October 7, when Hamas invaded populated areas of Israel and then took dozens of hostages, the command allegedly did not even warn intelligence officers about the attack, and as a result they became “easy prey” for the militants.
