One of the most relevant channels today is undoubtedly mobile banking. At a bank like BBVA, almost 100% of transactional banking transactions for individuals can be carried out through the mobile application. It is therefore not surprising that 75.9% of Valencian Community residents with a bank account already operate through digital channels.
Before we go any further, BBVA practice in Spain has been recognized as the best in the world many times. There is a full team of people behind the BBVA app working to deliver the best mobile banking service possible. For example, the first application that allowed payments to be initiated from other bank accounts was in Spain. In 2020, BBVA also launched the virtual assistant Blue, which provides support for any operation performed from the institution’s application.
But banking is a people business where personal treatment is important. In this sense, consumers demand more personal and human banking: a bank that allows them to make digital transactions, but also accompanies them in a close and personalized way in decisions regarding the management of their money. In this sense, attention remains necessary in physical offices for more complex operations that require expert advice, such as mortgages or investments.
In Spain, financial institutions provide their services through a network of 17,863 offices. Additionally, according to Bank of Spain data, there are 43,614 ATMs in the Spanish banking sector. 4,732 of these are part of the BBVA network, which allows a wide range of banking transactions such as cash deposits and withdrawals, bill payments and transfers.
