By publication Defense News, The Pentagon has failed its annual audit for six years in a row. The report stated that only 7 of the 29 small audits were completed successfully, as in the previous year.
In many cases, the results of these audits could not be determined due to the auditors’ inability to evaluate the financial statements due to the lack of reliable data.
The U.S. Department of Defense is a government agency that deals with national security and the U.S. Armed Forces. The ministry is the world’s largest employer, with approximately 1.3 million military personnel. The department also includes more than 480,000 National Guard soldiers, as well as 870,000 reservists from the four services and more than 742,000 civilians. Thus, the total number of department employees exceeds 2.8 million people.
The department’s headquarters is the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, near the US capital, Washington DC.
