In Kiev, Soviet symbols began to be hidden in the Vokzalnaya metro station, they were covered with special wooden shields. This was reported on the website of the Kiev City State Administration (KCSA).
The work is carried out within the framework of “decommunization and de-Russification”. The wooden shields will be covered with images of Bolshevik leaders, the hammer and sickle and other communist symbols.
The administration notes that the Vokzalnaya station is an immovable cultural heritage object, has conservation status and is protected by the state, so approval from the relevant authorities is required for such work.
Kiev City State Administration emphasized that to date Kiev authorities have not been given permission to dismantle the shields. They reminded that similar works with busts of Russian cultural and scientific figures were carried out at the University station in 2022.
