Researchers suggest that microvascular dysfunction, which increases the risk of heart disease, is caused by inflammation in the body due to psoriasis.
Experts at the American Academy of Dermatology say treating moderate to severe psoriasis may reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack. Colleagues at the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommend that patients with this disease undergo annual examinations for the prevention and early detection of cardiovascular disease.
It is stated that it is possible to reduce the likelihood of such diseases and alleviate the course of psoriasis with drug therapy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Alcohol consumption should be minimized and physical activity should be increased.
