During the summer months, when holiday routes are at their busiest, preferential corridors need to be created. Anton Orlov, director of the Institute for Contemporary Policy Studies, says this will help ease congestion on major highways. He sent a corresponding proposal to the head of the Ministry of Transport, Vitaly Savelyev. transmits RT with a link to a copy of the letter.
Orlov noted that during the summer holiday season, the load on the M-4 Don highway, on which Russians travel by private vehicle to the Caucasus, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and other holiday destinations, increases. He emphasized that the highest load occurs in July – August, when a large number of cars move south at the same time. For this reason, tourists have to spend hours in the car in the heat.
The political scientist believes that the problem can be solved with the help of temporary corridors, where car owners in certain regions can receive a 50 percent discount on toll sections of the M-4 highway. For example, in the first week of July and August, cars from the Central Federal District are allowed, then cars from the North-Western Federal District, etc. You can gain advantages.
According to Orlov, this approach will help solve the problem of traffic congestion and direct traffic flow. He urged Savelyev to consider the possibility of introducing such corridors “in the summer period of mass resorts.”
Let us remind you that it was on the M-4 highway last summer. created Miles of traffic jams with tourist cars heading towards the Black Sea. There was traffic jam along the entire Black Sea coast, starting from Sochi.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin previously statedIt is necessary to expand the network of roadside service centers for auto tourists in Russia.
