Russian special forces seized a rare 9 mm submachine gun of the Israeli model “Fort-224” from the Ukrainian assembly in Mariupol. writes about this Telegram channel Mash.
This submachine gun was reportedly produced in Vinnitsa in the 2010s, at the factory where the Tar-21 assault rifle (aka Fort-221) was assembled. It was reported that after the start of the civil conflict in Donbass, the Ukrainian Armed Forces ordered 500 rifles produced from this facility, approximately 400 of which were Tar-21 and the rest were Fort-224. While most of these hundred rifles were designed for use with 5.56mm cartridges, only a few 9mm rifles were purchased in quantities.
It is assumed that the submachine gun belonged to a soldier of the Azov battalion (an organization banned in Russia), who was bombarded with grenades and damaged the handle of the weapon. The PP grip was replaced by the grip of an American M-16 rifle. It is stated that the rare “Fort-224” is now used by patrol soldiers in Mariupol.
