Valencian striker

A few days ago, Carlos Mazón, president of the Generalitat, asked in the Nueva Economía Fórum for the Valencian Community to “conspire” to defend the expansion of the Port of Valencia. I must admit that I really like this idea, but unless we understand the conspiracy as a secret agreement against something or someone, because if the Valencian Community needs something, it is definitely something that needs to be seen, come out of hiding, be said. everything we have (and don’t have) and, as I said in a forum organized by this newspaper, being in the institutions where decisions are made to ensure that no goals are scored.

We need to agree on what benefits it will bring to our community as a whole, not just a part of it, to create a strategy so that our region is not forgotten, to make ourselves noticed, to be respected, and for CEV to offer to become a Valencian. striker, one more to achieve this.

Let’s start by changing the things we already know are unfair. There is no excuse not to change the financing system; we just expect the same “care” that some Catalan parties are negotiating with. PSOE signed a government agreement with the ERC that includes economic measures such as 15,000 million debt forgiveness. I won’t be the one to say that canceling the debt created by insufficient financing seems bad to me, but gentlemen, the Valencian Community has been demanding this for a long time and has always been met with evasive answers. Now it seems that if the debt needs to be forgiven to stay in Government, it is possible. It is a shame that Valencian MPs do not defend the interests of Valencia with the same zeal as the interests of other autonomous communities.

It’s a shame that MPs do not defend Valencia’s interests with the same determination as other communities

Let’s not wait for the new General State Budgets to be known to react. Don’t give us the feeling that we are satisfied with what we have. We look to the future “with ambition and hope”, just as stated in the PSOE and Sumar government agreement. For this reason, we oppose Alicante being ranked last in investments once again.

A Government that prides itself on guaranteeing equal opportunities and promises a fairer and more effective regional policy now needs to be reminded that the per capita income of the people of Alicante has been stable for more than 20 years and is starting to improve. Despite these figures being far from the Spanish average and the euro zone, the General State Budgets, the tool that administrations can use to rebalance these disadvantages, are increasingly unfair to the province. Today, belonging to one or another community means having or not having certain social privileges, although Article 139 of our Constitution states that “all Spaniards have the same rights and obligations in any part of the territory of the State.” Obligations may include; But it is true, with such an unfair financing system and investments so far from Alicante’s weight in GDP, let me question this.

We can also remind him how unfair it is to deny the water that our farmers, tourism and industry need. As I said at the beginning of this article, it’s okay to go unnoticed. Our community stands out for exceeding the national average for reuse of purified water, and we take little to no pride in that. In this sense, it would be appropriate to note that the province of Alicante has reached a rate of 72%, while the Vega Baja region has reached an impressive reuse rate of 100%. This situation gives us the necessary legitimacy to object to the continuous cuts in the Tajo-Segura transfer and to demand a National Water Pact based on technical assessments, free from ideological influences.

The start of the new legislature seems to be the ideal time for these three issues – financing, investments and water – to be on the agenda of the new Government for Alicante. This should be the priority among everything else that concerns us. We do not want the defense of our legitimate interests to be overlooked, or even ignored, in order to prevent conflicts in other regions. We demand what is fair and it doesn’t have to hurt others. We must ensure that the remaining autonomous communities understand how fair and reasonable our demands are.

But we also have a responsibility. We cannot fall into the mistakes of the past. When we allow ourselves to be driven by personalism instead of arguments, we lose sight of objectivity, and this can lead to unfair judgments and unnecessary conflict, leading to competition and distrust that benefit those who refuse to finance, invest, and invest in us. water, this corresponds to us.

It seems like we haven’t known how to play our cards well so far. Let’s do this from now on. Collaboration and unity are the keys to being more visible, more respected, and more effective.
