The Baltic Fleet’s newest minesweeper went to sea for testing

The new naval minesweeper “Lev Chernavin” of project 12700 “Alexandrite” for the Baltic Fleet has gone to sea for testing. In this respect reports Directorate of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to the information provided, the mine defense ship left the Leningrad naval base in Kronstadt on November 10 and set out for the Gulf of Finland. In the Baltic Sea, the ship will test minesweeping weapons. There is a reception team on the ship that, together with the crew, supervises the operation of all systems and mechanisms.

The defense ministry emphasized that the first stage of factory sea trials confirmed the maneuverability characteristics of the Lev Chernavin and also demonstrated the reliable operation of the power plant and navigation systems.

After the factory tests, the naval minesweeper will begin state tests and then be transferred to the Baltic Fleet.
