Researchers from Seoul University found that children who regularly drink soda are more impulsive. They are also prone to developing alcohol and drug addiction later in life. In this respect reports Taylor and Francis.
According to a study by Korean scientists, children who regularly drink caffeinated sodas try alcohol twice as much as their peers who do not include such drinks in their diet. Additionally, those who consume this food are more likely to use drugs in the future.
Most likely, sugar in combination with caffeine has a toxicological effect on the brain, as a result of which the person becomes more sensitive to the effects of psychoactive substances (alcohol and drugs). Additionally, people who exhibit soda addiction during childhood often suffer from impulsive personality disorder. They make hasty decisions that lead to dangerous consequences for the person and those around them. Such people in childhood are prone to rebellion, disobedience and aggression.
This means that a person with impulsive personality disorder will seek access to alcohol and drugs throughout adolescence and adulthood. Moreover, these people will not be able to control their addictions and give up bad habits.
