In Russia, the concept of responsible treatment of animals will be developed, which will cover all aspects of interaction with the animal world, from homeless and pets to farm and wild animals. This was stated by Elena Sharoykina, Chairman of the Commission (OP) of the Public Chamber on Ecology and Sustainable Development, writes in the publication “Vedomosti”.
The concept will be wide-ranging, including ideological and educational aspects. It will be based on the experience of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, where a similar concept has been implemented since 2021. It is planned to organize educational events within the scope of regional events and to create a culture of responsible treatment of animals.
Elena Sharoykina also noted that if the concept is adopted at the federal level, the relevant laws will be adapted accordingly. He emphasized that there are no plans to incorporate the theses arising from the concept into existing law on the responsible treatment of animals.
As part of the work on the concept, working groups will be formed to deal with various aspects of the treatment of animals such as stray animals, hunting and fishing, circuses, zoos and farm animals. It is planned to hold analytical consultations and develop general principles and objectives.
