Redexis, a comprehensive energy infrastructure company, started construction work First hydrogen pipeline to carry 100% green hydrogen for injection into the natural gas transport network The project is located on the island of Mallorca, within the scope of the Green Hysland project and is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2024.

with an iInvestment of over 3 million eurosThe hydrogen pipeline will require: Emission reduction between 1,265 and 3,829 Tn CO2As a crucial step in moving towards a zero-emission society (NetZero), it will help meet decarbonisation targets and enable a cleaner and more circular economy.

The 3.2 kilometer long hydrogen pipeline between the future unloading location of tube trailers leaving Lloseta and the injection point will transport renewable hydrogen and It plans to inject up to 190 Tn/year of hydrogen (6 GWh/year) in the first phase. It can go up to 575 Tn/year (20 GWh/year). This will positively benefit more than 115,000 households and 2,000 tertiary and industrial consumers who will be able to benefit from sustainable and 100% renewable fuel.

Redexis became the first company in Spain to receive administrative and enforcement authorization from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenges (MITECO) to install the green hydrogen injection system at the location of one of the primary transport gas pipelines, specifically the first one. It is located in San Juan-Cas Tresorer-Son Reus on the island of Mallorca. This will be the first renewable hydrogen injection plant permitted in the Spanish gas system and will allow this vector to be injected into the natural gas network, consisting of more than 160 kilometers of gas pipelines and 1,150 kilometers of distribution network, feeding the entire island of Mallorca.

According to Fidel López Soria, CEO of Redexis, “This hydrogen pipeline will represent a significant advance in national and European decarbonization projects and will also bring hydrogen closer to segments such as industrial, tertiary and domestic, including hotels. For us, this is Spain “It is a very important milestone that responds to the development of decarbonization in Turkey.”

This infrastructure is part of the European Green Hysland subsidy project, which consists of more than 30 organisations, companies and technology centres, including Enagás Renovable and Acciona Energía. The European Union, through the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, has committed €10 million to support the deployment of the necessary infrastructure to make Mallorca’s renewable hydrogen ecosystem a reality in the period 2021-2025, bringing together all the central elements of hydrogen value. a chain process through production, transportation and distribution infrastructure, and the end use of renewable hydrogen.

Redexis is an energy infrastructure company with a sustainable and environmentally responsible business model committed to energy transition and economic development. The company contributes to decarbonization and contributes to meeting targets by focusing on the operation and maintenance of natural gas and LPG transportation and distribution networks, as well as the development of energy efficiency, mobility and renewable gas projects such as biomethane or green hydrogen. circular economy. The company maintains a solid and continuous growth plan, with investments of approximately 1.5 billion euros since 2010, and with 350 direct and nearly 3,000 indirect jobs, it always works with the aim of creating continuous value in the communities where it is located. In 2023, the GRESB Sustainability and Infrastructure Index once again awarded the maximum rating of five stars in ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), receiving a total score of 95 out of 100; Moody’s ESG Solutions achieved an “Advanced” Sustainability and CSR rating.
