St. A court in St. Petersburg fined eight men 1,300 rubles each for staging false arrests on Nevsky Prospekt at the end of October. This was reported by telegram channel Unified press service of city courts.
The judge who handed down the sentence noted that the defendants created a negative image by imitating the work of the security forces: The men forced citizens to the ground, beat them with sticks and used air rifles. It was noted that some “security forces” wore uniforms that were almost indistinguishable from riot police.
The defendants, who did not accept the accusations, stated that the “OMON” abbreviation on their clothes meant “Mobile Mood Organization Detachment”.
The judge was not convinced by this and imposed an administrative fine on Roman M., Alexander Zh., Ivau Kh., Alexander D., Ilya B., Andrey E., Dmitry R under the article “Illegal wearing of uniform”. and Egor P., the court also decided to confiscate the fake uniform.
