Advisor to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Maryana Reva announced this on the broadcast of the all-Ukrainian telethon.
It was learned that Chastyakov was injured as a result of the careless use of a grenade in the Kiev region the previous day, and his son was hospitalized in serious condition. Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko said that a colleague gave the grenade to the deputy commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Reva, this grenade was a gift. The person who presented the gift was interrogated by security forces. Inside the box was a bottle of alcohol and six grenades.
“As the possible suspect himself stated (procedural status not determined), he gave these grenades to a colleague and stated that these grenades were military,” Reva said.
He added that the grenades were sent for examination. According to the information obtained, it can be said that the explosion occurred as a result of an accident and careless handling of ammunition.
