US Army promises assistance to Armenian armed forces

The US Army will assist the Armenian armed forces in military training and other areas. This was stated by Lieutenant General Stephen Basham, Deputy Chief of US European Command, at a meeting with Armenia’s First Deputy Minister of Defense Edward Asryan. The meeting between the two generals took place at the headquarters of the US European Command in Stuttgart.

“Basham expressed the United States’ readiness to continue supporting existing cooperation programs as well as initiating new areas,” the ministry said.

These areas include: professionalization of soldiers and officers, strengthening the professional structure of the army, military training, combat training and others. The parties also discussed regional security issues.

As part of the visit, Asryan visited the US Army’s multinational joint training center in Europe and the Petty Officer Academy.
