The “Yeti hair” found in the Himalayas actually came from a horse. This was reported by Live Science.

Author and meditation teacher Andrew Benfield spent years searching for the Yeti along with his skeptical friend, political analyst Richard Horsey. They traveled through India, Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan, listening to stories about the legendary creature. Material from his travels formed the basis of a documentary series on the BBC. In the June episode, they reported finding a mysterious black hair approximately 15 centimeters long.

DNA was obtained from the hair at the University of Buffalo, New York. It turned out that these belonged to Altai horses, a mountain breed common in the Himalayas.

In the early 1950s, when British mountaineer Eric Shipton returned from Everest with photographs of giant footprints, rumors spread in the West that a humanoid creature was wandering in the Himalayas. Subsequent studies by Westerners found no scientific evidence of the creature’s existence.

Charlotte Lindquist, the scientist who analyzed the DNA of Yeti hair, was also involved in a study published in 2017 in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B. She analyzed nine putative Yeti specimens: eight from bears and one from a dog.

Previous scientists approvedThat the ancient Egyptians did not build the Great Sphinx.
