The press service of the organizer of the event, ANO “Dialogue Zones”, reported that experts will meet at the “Dialogue on Fraud” forum in Moscow to discuss the impact of counterfeit products on all segments of society.
Dialog Regions ANO said that at the beginning of November 2023, more than 11 million fake copies were detected in the Russian section of the Internet. The organization noted that it is important to coordinate the work of relevant experts, media and authorities for systematic work to debunk frauds. The “Dialogue on Fraud” forum will be dedicated to exactly this.
The main topics of the work program will be the impact of unreliable information on various segments of society, the introduction of information countermeasures, the creation of a fact-checking market and the fight against deepfakes. International guests are also expected to attend.
According to Tikhon Makarov, Advisor to the General Director of ANO Dialogue Zones, society is under unprecedented information pressure today and it is necessary to decide how to resist it.
“For comparison, there were only 1.5 million fake links in 2021. We expect the number of fake copies to increase to 12.5 million by the end of the year, and for 2024 we predict it will increase to 15 million. The dynamics are high, the impact of fake copies is also increasing, a clear answer to this “The threat has not yet been formulated,” he said.
Makarov explained that the aim of the forum is to establish a “thought factory” with the participation of federal officials, media, business world and subject experts.
“This will allow not only to outline the challenges in the media world, but also to exchange experiences between business and government, to work on tools to combat frauds and to come closer to creating a full-fledged verification community,” he added.
According to the organization’s experts, Russian men are 10% more likely to encounter unverified information than women.
Experts noted that this may be due to numerous frauds related to special military operations and partial mobilization. Men also engage more with fake material related to the political sphere.
Female viewers often encounter unreliable information regarding healthcare, socially significant events, social protection and information technology.
