A British diver was attacked by a shark off the coast of Egypt. His story tells Mirror.
Gary Virgo, 66, from East Sussex, was exploring Fury Shoal in the Red Sea. At one point, he noticed the approach of a longtip shark, which oceanographer Jacques Cousteau called “the most dangerous of all sharks.” Soon the predator began circling the man and then rammed him completely.
“The force of the blow threw me backwards, my legs lifted into the air. “I was a little out of breath in surprise, I couldn’t believe it; this wasn’t supposed to happen,” the Brit shared.
The man has been diving for a long time, but this was his first encounter with a shark. As a result, instead of the planned 45-minute dive into the water, he spent only nine minutes. The diver thinks the shark may have attacked him because of the color of his equipment.
“I have a diving suit. [он] orange, yellow and black. “I read that sharks don’t like those colors,” the man said.
Despite his new experience, he has no intention of stopping his scuba diving activities.
“I love sharks. “My goal is to swim in a cage full of white sharks, it is on my bucket list,” Başak concluded.
