On the eve of the long weekend, long vehicle queues formed at the border gates from Belarus to European Union countries. The border committee of the republic reports this.
“In the last 24 hours, the number of passenger vehicles waiting in the queue in Lithuania increased from 155 to 350, and in Poland from 180 to 300. At the same time, 48% of regular cars went to the European Union. Lithuania’s busiest route passes through Medininkai (Kamenny Log) and Terespol (Brest), Poland’s only functioning border crossing – 34%,” the border committee said in a statement.
At the same time, there was no significant change in the number of trucks and vans queuing to enter the EU. According to the border committee, the busiest checkpoint on the road to EU countries is still Lithuanian Šalčininkai (Benyakoni) – 765 trucks are waiting for passage there.
In Belarus, October 7 is celebrated as October Revolution Day, a national holiday. In this context, a four-day holiday was declared in the republic between 4-7 November.
