The medicine described by Koloda is one of the safest birth control methods, but women who smoke and suffer from migraine should not take it.
“Since no separate safety criteria have been developed for this drug at the moment, it should not be taken by these patient groups. Changing recommendations takes years and a lot of research. Although we do not have enough data, the drug is still very new. Therefore, if a patient is a smoker or has been diagnosed with migraine with aura, we believe complications are possible even with such a safe drug,” Koloda concluded.
