An Orthodox priest in Nizhnekamsk was detained on suspicion of retaliating against his wife. In this respect reports broadcast “Evening Kazan” with reference to law enforcement agencies.

The investigation suggests that the 40-year-old priest of the Church of St. John of Kronstadt attacked his wife with a bladed weapon, dismembered her and hid her body parts in the refrigerator. According to preliminary data, the man committed the crime out of jealousy towards the victim.

The suspect was taken into custody and left behind two children.

The court will evaluate the decision to arrest the priest on November 2.

It is known that the clergyman graduated from the Moscow Orthodox Theological Seminary in 2010 and was appointed to the rank of priest by Metropolitan Anastasius of Kazan and Tatarstan in 2014.
