Rare endemic plants were planted in the Tavrida art cluster in Crimea as part of the “Save the Forest” campaign, and a new tree planting project was launched in the republic. The press service of the action reported this.
“Forest Volunteers” participated in the environmental festival in Tavrida. Hundreds of people came to plant greenery in Kapsel Bay and the coastal area near Cape Meganom. “Green Festival” initiated the joint work of the “Forest Volunteers” art cluster and “Roszapovedtsentr” on the landscape of Sudak.
Headlining the event in 2023 were singer Khabib and the band The Hatters.
Khabib expressed hope that this would not be the last tree he planted and that he could take part in such events again. The contractor believes that the forest should be protected.
“I encourage you to join our challenge! I am so happy that I now have a personalized tree. This isn’t my first time in Taurida and I’m sure when I come here again I’ll be happy to come and see how my cypress tree is doing,” Khabib said.
Representatives of the Sudak administration, Crimean ministers and heads of major environmental organizations also planted trees in Kapsel Bay.
Organizers and guests of the festival began creating a new green heritage in the southeast of Crimea at the end of October and will continue its cultivation throughout the week.
The Green Festival was opened by Forest Volunteers and Starship Troopers on October 28. Its members include athletes, TV presenters, actors, musicians and public figures. From the team, pop singer Irina Ortman, TV presenter Irina Pudova, track and field athlete Svetlana Masterkova and project founder Zlata Chepurnaya came to Crimea. On this day, Chinese junipers and rare endemic plants of the Sochi Arboretum were planted. A total of 1,650 perennial plants were planted.
The “Save the Forest” campaign was organized for the first time in 2019. Up to 1.5 million participants participate each year and they plant more than 222 million trees over four years. The environmental initiative has come to be seen as one of Russia’s largest initiatives. The action is implemented within the framework of the “Ecology” national project. The organizers are with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, Rosleskhoz, the All-Russian popular movement “Forest Volunteers”, the “Ecosystem” movement and the All-Russian children and youth movement “First Movement”. ”. The partners of the campaign in 2023 are Sberbank, Rosatom, Russian Railways, TMK and T Plus.
