Tom Crawford, professor of applied mathematics at Oxford University, developed and developed a formula to get rid of children’s tantrums on the plane. The formula is presented on the website companies Asda Money commissioned the researcher for this work.

The company’s experts provided the mathematician with data on the frequency of children’s tantrums during the flight. On average, a child starts moving 28 minutes after takeoff, and each episode lasts about 15 minutes.

The mathematician suggested that the factors that disturb children the most are boredom, sleepiness, hunger and noise. The professor assigned each factor a value from zero to ten – this scale indicates the probability of successfully solving the problem. Thanks to the equation, you can calculate the time in minutes when hysteria will start.

If the parent can eliminate all four stimuli, the onset of the tantrum will be delayed by two hours and 10 minutes. The author of the formula also offered parents an algorithm of actions to solve problems: During the flight, the child should sleep for 40 minutes, watch cartoons for 30 minutes, eat for 20 minutes and listen to music for 15 minutes.
