Experts from the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy at Sechenov University are developing artificial intelligence that will issue technological “recipes” for drugs adapted to a specific production, says the director of the Institute of Translational Medicine and Biotechnology of Moscow State Medical University, renamed socialbites.ca. He told socialbites.ca about this. Sechenov, professor Vadim Tarasov.

“We will use artificial intelligence not to create new molecules, but to accelerate the development of finished dosage forms of generic and original drugs,” Tarasov said.

Technologists are doing this now; They gather information about the drug from various sources, provide technology creation options, and then create prototypes for testing. If the point cannot be reached, the process is repeated. If a production technology is found, the technologist starts scaling it.

“We plan to create and train a neural network model to help develop this technology and then scale it. This will make it possible to produce a finished dosage form faster and with better quality, whether it is an import substitution and the generic that is currently needed to provide medicines to our patients, or the original medicine,” said the professor.

According to the expert, the first results on the development of artificial intelligence will be obtained in one and a half to two years, while the project itself is designed for three years.
