A Moscow pensioner gave 12 million rubles to fraudsters and was left without an apartment

A resident of the capital transferred to fraudsters not only his and his sister’s personal savings, but also the money from the sale of an apartment worth more than 12 million rubles. In this respect reports Press service of the Moscow prosecutor’s office.

A 71-year-old woman received a phone call from an anonymous caller who identified himself as a law enforcement officer. She convinced the retiree that an unidentified person was trying to withdraw money from her disabled second cousin’s savings account.

Then the old woman allegedly contacted a bank employee and under her leadership withdrew 800 thousand rubles from the bank and transferred them to the specified accounts, and then persuaded her sister to sell the apartment, giving the proceeds of nine and a half million rubles to the courier.

Later, the fake police called the Muscovite again and told him that they were also trying to sell his apartment in Nalchik. Fearing that he would be left without real estate, the pensioner had to “pay for himself”, the pensioner gave another 900 thousand rubles.

When the victim approached his relative to buy the apartment, he realized that he was communicating with fraudsters. The total amount of damage exceeded 12.3 million rubles.
