A serious challenge for Russia is ensuring global information security. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Evgeny Ivanov stated this at the plenary session of the “Digital International Relations” conference “High Technologies as a Factor in Modern World Politics”, which started on October 25 at MGIMO.
“It is no secret that an information attack is being carried out against our country. “Russian government institutions, media, critical infrastructure facilities and life support systems are exposed to powerful hacker attacks almost every day,” he said.
According to him, despite the geopolitical situation, the Russian Federation remains open to dialogue and cooperation in the field of information security with all states without exception.
“Our country aims to prevent conflicts in the information field, promote the exclusively peaceful use of information and communication technologies, and promote digital capacity building,” Ivanov said.
As Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Eduard Sheremetsev noted, in today’s realities digital sovereignty cannot be created alone. “In addition, the synergy of states’ efforts towards development through cooperation, including in the technological field, can achieve this sovereignty.”
Maxim Dreval, General Director of the Russian “Information” Association, believes that Russia has a lot of advanced technologies, developments, projects that should be known and demanded worldwide. According to him, these need to be disseminated.
At the roundtable meeting “Digital transformation of public administration”, participants talked about the successes achieved in this field and the challenges that need to be solved.
National Payment Depot Information Technologies Director Pavel Andrianov noted that digitalization needs can be fully met with products developed by Russia, the number of which increased rapidly last year and continues to grow.
“It turns out that there are actually many local solutions. “There is a Russian solution that can be used in almost every region, even the smallest one,” he said.
