Pashinyan did not see the advantages of Russian bases in Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that he does not see any advantage in the presence of Russian military bases on the state’s territory. The newspaper reports this Wall StreetJournal.

He stated in the document that he “does not see any advantage in the continued presence of Russian military bases in Armenia.”

According to the Armenian prime minister, Armenia is looking for new partners because Russia “failed to fulfill its allied obligations.” He noted that the events in Nagorno-Karabakh led Armenia to look for new partners in the field of defense.

Earlier, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Yerevan approved Russia’s initiative to open a consulate in the Armenian city of Kapan, near the Azerbaijani border. According to Mirzoyan, the opening of consulates of some countries in the Syunik region contains “political messages”.

On September 19, Azerbaijani authorities announced a local operation in Karabakh. Baku announced the purpose of the operation as “suppression of large-scale provocations”, disarmament and withdrawal of Armenian army units from the territory of the region.

Formerly at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the name Pashinyan’s statements regarding Russia are unacceptable.
