Cyber security expert Alexey Kurochkin says that the old version of WhatsApp messenger will continue to work for a while on smartphones with outdated operating systems. Look for analogues of the application in your conversation with the 360 TV channel. It has been recommended only in official stores, without downloading versions from unknown sites.
The expert explained that supporting WhatsApp versions for different generations of smartphones is troublesome and time-consuming. “This is the flow of life. Remember, we had audio tapes, then CDs came out, but no one ever asked anyone where I could buy the tapes? “This is an improvement,” he added.
Kurochkin believes that in the near future the messenger will continue to work for most users of smartphones with an old operating system, no updates will be offered to its owners. However, he emphasized that third-party customers will develop a product to replace the official application.
“But if he is an unscrupulous developer, he can put all kinds of spyware there,” the expert warned.
The cybersecurity expert emphasized that you should therefore not try to download an analogue of the application on unknown sites. According to him, to find an alternative to the messenger, you should use the official Russian mobile application store for Android RuStore or the Google Play application store.
Let us remind you that WhatsApp will stop supporting smartphones with Android 4.4 and older versions of this generation operating system as of today. Experts warned Russians about the dangers of using unofficial WhatsApp clients where attackers can steal payment data.
Previously at the Ministry of Digital Development reportedThat RuStore will no longer host VPN services that do not comply with the requirements of Russian legislation.
