Some drinks can trigger a hypertensive crisis, which is a sharp increase in blood pressure to extremely high values. About this “Moscow 24” said dietitian, nutritionist Evgeniy Arzamastsev.
“If a person has no blood pressure problems and is completely healthy, then of course no food or drink can cause a crisis. It’s another matter if you already have hypertension. In this case, some products can cause a sharp increase in pressure and hypertensive crisis,” explained the expert.
According to him, alcohol can cause disease primarily because it disrupts the fluidity of the blood. When consuming large amounts of alcohol, seizures may occur both at the time of consumption and in the morning. Coffee and tea can also cause a sharp increase in blood pressure, the doctor said.
Additionally, salty foods such as chips, pickles, cheese and fast food are also dangerous for people with hypertension.
“When salty food or salt is consumed in a person with high blood pressure, it can increase sharply and a hypertensive crisis may occur. This can happen if you eat too many sodium-containing foods at the same time. For example, in normal times a person eats normally, but during a feast he allows himself too much food,” Arzamastsev concluded.
