Russian air defense systems now have experience in interacting with American ATACMS ballistic missiles, and the country’s military will need to learn lessons from this to effectively intercept similar targets in the future. The agency’s interlocutor noted that the world information space is now full of news about the transfer of these missiles to Kiev and the first experience of their use by Ukrainian soldiers. According to media reports, fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched the first attacks on the positions of Russian troops using ATACMS.
“Well, what can I say: now our air defense has experience in interacting with these products. Let’s call these attacks an experience from which we must learn some lessons to effectively defeat such targets,” Gagin said.
He expressed confidence that the Russian Armed Forces could find a way to counter these projectiles. The advisor to the head of the region also emphasized that the Russian military already has experience in destroying Storm Shadow cruise missiles and missiles for HIMARS systems.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, the country’s army is capable of countering all kinds of threats. Gagin cited the regular interception of Ukrainian drones and missiles in the skies of Crimea as an example of the effective functioning of Russian air defense systems.
