Meteorological factors seriously affect the autonomic nervous system of people sensitive to weather conditions, he said, and so-called distraction therapy can help them. RT neurologist Ekaterina Demyanovskaya.

He explained that during geomagnetic storms or solar eclipses, even healthy people can experience stress, increased anxiety, sensitivity to physical pain and other external factors. This is because changes in the activity of the Earth’s electromagnetic field can slow down blood flow in capillaries and increase intra-articular, intraocular and intracranial pressure. For this reason, people sensitive to weather conditions may experience high or low blood pressure, dizziness, headache, eye and joint pain.

The expert stated that the geomagnetic storm period is responsible for approximately 70% of strokes, hypertensive crises and heart attacks.

Not only solar eclipses but also lunar cycles cause changes in the human body. Thus, research has shown that people’s hormone levels increase during the new moon and full moon periods and that epilepsy patients are more likely to have seizures.

To reduce the impact of weather conditions, Demyanovskaya recommended the use of distraction therapy: hot foot baths, contrast showers and gymnastics. If sudden warming is predicted, the doctor recommended running, walking, and exercising outdoors.

In addition, the neurologist noted that baths with pine mother-of-pearl, contrast water treatments, underwater massage showers, dry saunas and baths are quite effective in reducing air sensitivity.
