Military expert in conversation with retired colonel Yuri Knutov, director of the Air Defense Forces Museum “Lentoy.ru” He pointed out that the Russian Armed Forces use Russian heavy flamethrower systems “Solntsepek” and “Tosochka” in the special military operation (SVO) region.
“If we talk about Solntsepek, it is a system based on the T-90 tank. This is due to the missiles used, that is, this flamethrower system uses thermobaric ammunition,” said the expert.
As he notes, Solntsepeks’ range is not very long – about 5-7 km.
According to Knutov, this system needs to get very close to the front line due to its short firing range. He becomes quite vulnerable at this time.
“To avoid this, it must approach under the protection of tanks and other equipment. However, this indicates that a blow will soon be dealt to the enemy. Therefore, as a rule, “Solntsepok” act alone: they silently advance to positions, attack and immediately leave,” said the expert.
He also said Solntsepek was considered so powerful that the US had raised the issue of banning it and classifying it as a weapon of mass destruction.
“Because they can’t create anything like this in the United States,” Knutov continued.
He added that the United States failed to achieve this.
Previously captured soldier Vitaly Melnichenko from the 56th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) stated“Solntsepok” is for him the most terrible weapon used in a special military operations (SVO) zone.
Vasily Dandykin, previously a military specialist, captain of the first rank of the reserve named kamikaze drones, the “Agriculture” remote mining system and the T-90M “Breakthrough” tank are among the most useful types of weapons in the special operations zone.
Previously in the USA commentedIt was stated that the Russian TOS-1A “Solntsepek” will be used in conflicts for a long time.
