It turns out that the word ‘fake’ is the most talked about foreign loan in the media and social networks. This is shown by a study by Pro-Vision Communications, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.

Within the scope of the study, more than 5,800 materials about substitutions in the media and approximately 340 thousand publications about English in the media between January 1 and September 18, 2023 were analyzed. As well as posts and comments in the largest selected communities on VKontakte, where the issue of replacing foreign debts is raised.

Thus, “fake” appears in the media an average of 215 times a day. While “case” took the second place, “life hack” was in the top three. “Coworking” ranked fourth, while “hype” ranked fifth. Also in the top 10 were “food court”, “user”, “deadline”, “hate” and “workshop”.

At the same time, as analysts noted, “facap” and “rofl”, like the seemingly popular “open field”, were hardly mentioned in the media.

The “purity of the Russian language” law, which limits the use of Anglicism in rule-making, office work and toponymy, is most pronounced in the Krasnodar Territory (6.5% of the total number of publications), St. It is being discussed in St. Petersburg. (4%) and Sverdlovsk Region (3.8%). The main reason for this is the initiatives of regional authorities.
