In Dagestan, locals used Red Book birds to make money from tourists

In Dagestan, local people kept five Red Book birds and used them for commercial purposes. This was reported by press service Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the region.

Entrepreneurs were detained during inspections at tourist attractions. It turned out that businessmen walked with birds to places where travelers were concentrated and invited them to take photos.

3 eagles, 1 black kite and a vulture were seized from their owners. After that, Red Book animals were transported to the Dagestan reserve for preventive care.

Administrative protocols were drawn up against the owners. They will go to the Makhachkala Interregional Environmental Prosecutor’s Office to take the necessary measures.

The ministry emphasized that such raids are constantly carried out on tourist sites to detect criminals.
