American cosmetic dentist Shahira Saad explained the unclear causes of tooth enamel damage. Habits such as cleaning with aggressive whitening pastes, chewing ice, and opening various packages with your teeth can cause stretch marks. In this respect reports TimesNewsUK.

Many people use whitening toothpastes to quickly give their teeth the light shade they want. Recently, black paste with coal particles is gaining popularity. The doctor warns that such products are very aggressive – abrasive (hard) particles scratch the top layer of enamel, leaving microcracks. When foods that leave stains (coffee, chocolate, vegetables and fruits) are consumed in the future, the dye can get stuck in these cracks and cause the teeth to become more yellow.

In addition, tooth sensitivity increases when dentin (the hard tissue that forms the main part of the tooth) is exposed to abrasive substances.

The dentist also recommends getting rid of the habit of opening various packages, bottles, tearing papers and bags with your teeth. This may cause fractures on the tooth surface.

Chewing on ice chips can also damage your teeth. Some people chew while drinking a cold drink. Damage to enamel increases the sensitivity of teeth to heat and cold and makes teeth less resistant to decay.
