The Il-212 aircraft with turbojet engines will replace the An-26 and An-72 transport aircraft in the Russian Aerospace Forces RIA News referring to resources in the military-industrial complex.
“The Il-112V project will be significantly redesigned and will receive a new designation – Il-212. The aircraft will generally retain most of its avionics and avionics as in the previous model, as well as the fuselage. It will also receive PD-8 turbojet engines instead of TV-117S turboprop engines. “Accordingly, the aircraft’s wings and landing gear will be redesigned, and new fuel and hydraulic systems will be installed.”
A feature of the new aircraft will be the placement of engines above the wing, like the An-72 – this will allow you to increase the rate of climb and at the same time enable the operation of the new aircraft from unprepared runways and unpaved airfields.
